Meet the Team

We've got a crew of seasoned runners and community organizers that know their stuff, bring their own style and experience, and have been a huge presence in the running community at large.

  • Kyla has been an avid explorer of running for over two decades in all its forms. In 2019, she made a huge life change, started a nonprofit, and set out to live one month in twelve cities where she taught yoga, mindfulness, and meditation to underserved groups. She ran a half marathon in every city to raise awareness and funds for the populations she served. Over the course of the year, she road tripped 12,315 miles in her van, ran in 33 states and 12 national parks, joined 11 different running clubs, raced 139.8 miles, and explored countless miles on foot.

When Kyla decided to root down in Bozeman after being on the road and being the new girl in cities over and over again, one thing really stuck with her: it doesn’t take much to make someone feel like they belong. And sometimes, a simple hello is EVERYTHING. She started Bozeman Run Club in 2020 with that spirit in mind.

When she’s not running or bossing people around, you can find Kyla either at Shine, or hangin with her pup named Shine.

  • My name is Jeff Garmire (trail name Legend). I am a 32-year-old who has completed the Calendar Year Triple Crown (AT, PCT, CDT in one year), climbed all the Colorado 14ers, The Great Western Loop, Nolans 14 in 59 hours, and broke the Arizona Trail self-supported FKT, Pinhoti Trail self-supported FKT, Long Trail Unsupported FKT, John Muir Trail record, and the Colorado Trail Unsupported FKT among other records.

Trail name: My trail name is “Legend” and was earned due to some strategic hitching back into Wrightwood, CA to grab pizza for a group of fellow PCT thru-hikers camped nearby visitors’ center. After all, when you are a thru-hiker, pizza is legendary, especially if it is not dehydrated.

-2014 – Hiked the Pacific Northwest Trail (1,250 miles) in 45 days

-2015 – Climbed all 58 of the Colorado 14,000′ peaks on top of working full time, as well as climbing Mt. Rainier

-2016 – Hiked the Calendar Triple Crown (Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, and Continental Divide Trail) in one year

-2018-Completed the Great Western Loop (7,000-mile loop across 9 states in the western U.S.) in under 7 months

-Finished Nolans 14 in 59 hours while on the Great Western Loop

-Set the new Arizona Trail FKT self-supported and broke the overall record as well (setting the fastest time ever)

-Hiked/climbed over 29,000 miles in the last 9 yearssocial media platforms!

    -Pinhoti Trail self-supported FKT (2019)

    -Long Trail Unsupported FKT (2019)

-Set the record climbing the tallest mountain in Costa Rica: Cerro Chirripo (12,533′) (2019)

Hopefully, you enjoy following along with my adventures and feel free to contact me and follow along with my journeys on multiple social media platforms!

  • Powered by coffee, croissants, and chicken tendies, Jackson is a roadrunner by day and a trail runner whenever Kyla convinces him to do something crazy like run through a bear- and moose-infested forest. All joking aside, he thoroughly enjoys running in all its forms (even when getting chased by a moose), and he loves the camaraderie and craziness of run club.

His attendance at run club is a bit sporadic - at best - because his life is constantly in chaos trying to coordinate his Special Olympics athletes, volunteer with the Gallatin Valley Land Trust, or referee a youth basketball tournament. If you catch a rare sighting of him, it's probably because you're at Friday Fun Run and he's fueling up on coffee from Treeline and a croissant from Wild Crumb. Please honk at him if you ever see him running around town.

  • Sam drives a big truck, drinks Budweiser, and is known for his incredible sense of style. Catch him running around town in a flamingo button down or a cutoff kitten tee.

  • Jamie and Patrick are a married couple that first got a taste of Montana trails in 2012. They are both biologists, coaches, and outdoor enthusiasts.

Jamie has a background in track & field (high school and college), cross country (college), and, more recently, obstacle course racing and trail racing. She is a USATF level 2 certified coach and has shared her love and knowledge of running in coaching roles for multiple NCAA Division I teams, one-on-one coaching, and Tuesday Night Track.

Patrick is a wrestler that runs for the challenge and the fitness. He has more than a decade of coaching experience and is currently the head wrestling coach at Manhattan High School. Patrick lives for the thrill of the hill!

  • Allison took up ultra running in 2018 and has had some fantastic experiences on the trails! She loves taking on big challenges and long distances. Or just chilling after a run and eating a basket of fries. As a filmmaker she’s had the chance to run all over the country and loves exploring new areas, getting to make new friends, and sharing her passion for running with others!

  • We like cinnamon rolls and pasta. Joined run club June 2022 and met all of our friends. Every Saturday we look forward to the energy and hitting the trails with an incredible community!

  • Malory loves sharing local trails with new runners and believes in building a sustainable community for all people and creatures in Bozeman.

She hasn't made enough drama for herself lately, so please bring some to share!

  • Who’s a cuter duo than Lauren + Lefty?!

Mallory, better known as "Lefty" to the Bozeman Run Club Community, dove right into the Bozeman running scene upon her arrival in 2020. Prior to getting involved in running, Lefty was a collegiate field hockey player. After college, she made her way to Bozeman, where she found a love for the trails! Aside from long days spent (and lots of snacks consumed) in the mountains, you can also catch Mallory spending time with her three pups and fiance Dylan!

As a pretty casual runner, Lauren joined the run club in 2021 hesitantly, but quickly fell in love with the community and energy this group brought to her life. She loves time spent outside with buddies new and old, finding huckleberries on trail, and taking her dog out to enjoy this magical place we get to live!

  • Evan often dives into new pursuits with a bit of reckless abandonment. A year removed from breaking his back skiing, Evan has returned and is ready to lead people aimlessly around the local trails of Bozeman. A big believer in community and the importance it plays, he would not be back to his normal self without the recent help from his friends made in this amazing group of people. When not running, Evan can be found at the local watering hole, Hideaway, having a burger (best one in bozeman) and a couple of PBRs.
